Recipe for boston cream cake

With a rich ganache, pillowy yellow cake, and luscious vanilla cream cheese filling, our tube pan twist on Boston’s most famous dessert literally turns this classic upside-down.

We flip the cake as it cools, creating a flat top for our shiny ganache glaze. It’s so easy to make thanks to a boxed cake mix, pudding and chocolate frosting! This is an easy and fun cake that everyone wants the recipe for. Make cake mix according to directions and bake in a well-greased 9×pan. Master this classic cake—the “pie” title is a holdover from a time when cakes and pies were typically baked in the same type of pan—and you’ll always have a showstopping dessert for birthdays and other special celebrations.


For the cake : Preheat the oven to 3degrees F. Spray a 9-inch round cake pan with cooking spray and set aside.

Layers of moist vanilla cake, filled with a sweet vanilla custard and topped with dark chocolate glaze. Father’s Day is right around the corner, and I always like to mark the occasion. I made this entire recipe from scratch. The cake was not dry at ALL, there was enough batter to fill up two inch cake. Looking for something a little easier to make? Ganache: In a medium bowl, pour the boiling cream over the chopped chocolate and stir until melted. To assemble pie, remove the cake from the pan.


Cut the cake in half horizontally. To Assemble: place one cake round on large plate, spoon pastry cream on the center of cake. Place second layer on pastry cream , bottom side up.


Using offset spatula, spread evenly. Press lightly on top of cake to level. Refrigerate while making the ganache.

I know you will say “On, no, you can’t make your own cake! But those who know me, know how picky I am. Everyone will be raving over the delicious combination of yellow cake, vanilla pudding custar and chocolate glaze.


Plan to take this one-pan dessert to your next gathering! It’ll certainly be a crowd favorite, just like the ever delicious Chocolate Lasagna. This made from scratch cake is easier to bake than it looks!

It was dense and undercooked and had to be thrown away.
