I learned a long time ago that it sounds stupid to say that to another black person. No, you can’t even sing the word because the history… Ta-Nehisi Coates embarrassed us all when he became the 1740th Black person to politely and eloquently explain why white people can. We published a list of things that white people should never say to their black co-workers. Now, Risha Grant, a public relations professional and diversity and inclusion expert, asked white people.


My answer will be quite a bit different from most, and the concept is a work in progress, so excuse the roughness.

Many people think it’s unfair that black people get a pass on saying it while others don’t – especially when it seems black people are allowed to say slurs like “cracker” and “honky” without as much critique. Black slang and AAVE (African-American Vernacular English) have long been considered inferior to so-called standard English, and the black people who use it seen as uneducated or unintelligent (forcing many to master the art of code-switching).


Things White People Should Stop Saying to Black People Immediately.

If it seems as though black people talk about race so much,. Stop saying that I have white privilege. You look like the girl, or you remind me of the girl, or I was. Read this slowly, and carefully, because the people known here in the United States as “African-Americans”, the ones who are okay with being referred to as an identifying as “African-American” or even “Black” or using t. Before we get into black people’s opinions on the alleged MAGA hate crimes attack on the homosexual black Jew actor Jussie Smollett in downtown Chicago, I just want to mention that when you type “Jussie Smollett” into , the first four videos and almost all of the rest of the videos are about the alleged attack.


Tell me why non- black people were really answering me, and giving me names of black girls who they thought I would hit it off with. Because, even though yes, I tweeted it to the general public, it was only meant for people who met the qualifications. And by “black househol” I mean one where what I’ve come to know as black linguistics, colloquialisms, musics, seasonings and conversations were the order of the day, not intentionally, but by the good Lord’s design. Any person with a shred of common sense knows that using the N-word is not socially acceptable.


But now, many words act as substitutes for this slur. Here are seven commonly-used phrases that are racially coded to harm black people. One of my daughters has - for the first time - a black teacher and she seems to be teacher a bit more than math, which is great considering you can count the number of black kids in their elementry school on one hand.


It seems Miss R uses the term black people for her 9-year-old students. Countless people have explained why there are no special excuses or circumstances for white people saying nigga, and have outlined why this is not a double standard. What’s rarely unpacke though, is the emotional and spiritual labor that goes into trying to explain to non-black people why they shouldn’t say it.


To understand her logic, we have to acknowledge that mainstream America accepts the concept of racism with a limited.

That being sai we need to stop saying “people of color” (POC) in instances when we mostly (and sometimes only) mean “Black people. What I’m saying is a bit meta, but the public use of the term POC seems to have become less about solidarity and more concerned with lessening the negative connotations and implicit anti-Black reactions. These are some of the sayings that my parents and grandparents used to use.


They were all Black Country born, bred and buttered as my Gran used to say. I keep hearing different things, is it ok and accepted to refer to coloured people as black , or is it still deemed racist? Anyone that builds a city meters below sea level, in a hurricane zone, and fills it with niggers is a fucking genius! Why do more niggers get hit by cars in the winter?
